As most expect, 2016 is going to be a year where digital developments continue to flourish and evolve in the world of social media. I have a list of the top 2016 social media trends to keep your eye out for:

  • Snapchat:
    • Snapchat is going to transition from being an experimental social platform to an established one. We have already started to see this transition especially with the new face detection filters that were added in September of 2015 becoming all the rage. This social platform will continue to make its mark in 2016 – so, stay tuned!
  • Periscope:
    • Periscope will be another social platform that will transition from being experimental to established. Haven’t heard of it? Periscope is a live streaming video platform that gives you the ability to “discover the world through other people’s eyes” as the company likes to describe it. Want to see the sunrise across the world? Periscope makes this possible.
  • B2B Marketers will have more advertising options and opportunities:
    • Currently, social media poses to most as a B2C market. This, however, in 2016 will change. More advertising options will become available for those B2B markets. While the specifics are still unnoted, the need for more advertising options for the B2B markets is apparent and is sure to be addressed in the year 2016.
  • The Facebook search feature will become much more sophisticated:
    • Where do you currently go to find information online? I can guess that you are probably going to one of the following places: Google, Facebook and/or YouTube. Facebook realizes this, therefore, they are working on making your user experience much better in hopes inching closer to the top of that list. In 2016, you will find:
      • Better search suggestions
      • Public Conversations
      • Public posts and posts from friends

Now, one cannot perfectly predict the future but this does give you a few things to look out for in 2016. Stay tuned on upcoming trends by following our blog!
